This happy family group photograph includes includes two of Mary Ann's three daughters, Lily and Mabel, as well as her youngest son, Alfred and was taken around 1917.

Lily May WOOLGAR
(1897 to 1981)

 

 

 

 

 

Isaac Woolgar was baptised at Henfield on 12 December 1858, one of the nine children of William Woolgar and his second wife, Eliza PARSONS.  Isaac was working as a railway Porter at Pulborough Station when he met Mary Ann EDWARDS from Coventry and the couple were married at Henfield on 26 November 1881.

Isaac and Mary Ann had six children viz:
Percy Edmund WOOLGAR baptised 24 September 1882 at Pulborough who married Isobel WHITEMAN in 1908;
Arthur Day William WOOLGAR, Able Seaman 216629, RN, who was baptised at Pulborough on 22 February 1885 and later married Winifred H. MUNSON in 1919;
Alice Mary Ann WOOLGAR who was baptised on 27 December 1891 at St. Peter’s, Coventry; and later married Harry Percival SMITH on 23 March 1913 at St. Luke’s, Brighton;
Alfred Harry WOOLGAR, Able seaman J5454, RN, who was born in Coventry on 27 November 1893 and died on 05 November, 1918 at Plymouth in Devon whilst serving in the Royal Navy;
Lily May WOOLGAR born 08 January 1897 in Coventry who married Eric Norman HALL in 1924; and lastly,
Mabel Annie WOOLGAR baptised 28 March 1900 at St. Peter’s, Coventry who married Joseph H. BALE in 1922.
