Newspaper Articles & Other References

From time to time, I come across references to WOOLGAR's in newspapers, books and magazines. There is a possibility that some of these items might be embarrassing to the people concerned, so I am going to operate my own 100-year rule and only reveal extracts from articles originally published up to around 1913. When reading these extracts, please bear in mind that English spelling, punctuation and grammar has changed over the last 200 years and so the way that these articles are written can seem rather strange in places to more modern eyes.

In some of these articles, the person named Woolgar is the main character; but in other articles they are merely bit-part players in a bigger scene. This is especially true in some of the reports of criminal proceedings. I would particularly like to hear from anyone who is descended from any of the people mentioned in these articles.

All the extracts will open in Adobe Acrobat 7 (or higher version). If you don't have this program on your computer, or you need to upgrade from an earlier version, click here .
